Boris Abramovic

Praedoc

Boris Abramovic is a praedoc researcher exploring topics at the intersection of the ethics of technology and art. He is currently working on the WWTF-funded research project ROBOPSY (Robopsychologists: An Artistic Exploration of Collective Memory through Role-Playing with AI Language Models), which is conducted by a consortium of partner institutions led by the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

He joined the research group of the Chair Philosophy of Media and Technology in 2021 as a praedoc researcher for the PERSEO project (PErsonalized Robotics as SErvice Oriented applications), funded by the EU’s Horizon MSCA program, where he explored the ethics of personal robots. 

Research interests:

Art & Technology Ethics: The contribution of art to ethical reflections on new and emerging technologies.

Robot Ethics: Social robots and the anticipation of their cultural and societal impact, trust and technology acceptance, and emerging risks alongside opportunities in human-robot interaction.

AI Trajectories: The mutual shaping of society and technology, AI-awareness and designing for AI-safety; human experiences of artificial intelligence.

Healthcare & Care Robotics: Creative and ethical applications for robotics and AI within the health and care sectors.

He is currently pursuing a doctorate, supervised by Prof. Mark Coeckelbergh and Prof. Friederike Eyssel.

Previously, he was a visiting researcher at RELATE (Research Laboratory for Art and Technology) at Aalborg University in Denmark and a member of the Decolonizing the Machine research group. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Media Art Cultures from Aalborg University and Danube University Krems, completed in 2019.
